Good morning! If you follow along on snapchat [sydneysocias] you may have caught my visit to BRUSH Salon in Gastown, Vancouver last week. Before my August wedding we had gone a really light, summer blonde and now that winter is slowly making it’s way, I wanted to tone down my tresses and achieve a really fresh, slightly more natural hue that could be more easily managed between treatments.
I worked with Kat (she’s AMAZING!!) to create a soft lived in root (instead of taking the color right up to the root) by applying a half head of feathered highlights, keeping the pieces around my face brighter for a sun kissed affect. Kat used Olaplex #1 mixed with L’Oreal Professionel Lightener to maintain the integrity of my hair – an essential step in any lightening service! We also used Olaplex #2 to seal the hair cutticles.
For cut, we went with minimal layers in the back to keep that fullness, and added face framing layers for shape and movement. Kat introduced me to Shu Uemura styling products for the first time, applying Satin Design Polishing Milk before blowing my hair out for heat protection and hydration. To finish it off, she curled my hair with a 1 inch DeFabulous wand directing the curls away from the face (little trick!). Using a wide tooth comb to brush out the curls and create a softer more natural wave. We finished off with an amazing product called, Texture Wave – a dry texture spray that assists with volume and a little bit of grit to get that perfect tousled wave (it leaves your hair feeling soft and not ‘crunchy’!).
