We love taking little getaways to our cabin for some downtime and that doesn’t exclude winter. Bring on the rain, cold, even snow (sometimes we’ll come in February) — call us crazy, but we’re just a couple of west coast kids who love the outdoors.
..but not at the cost of being cold! A big thing for me is being cold. Not sure what’s wrong with me but I’m literally always cold therefore I’m usually complaining that I’m cold and that’s just annoying. My preferred state of being is to be comfortable, warm, dry but keep everything as lightweight as possible. My black puffer jacket was the perfect shell this past weekend, over a chunky wool sweater and cozy flannel. It’s great for travel too, since it’s packable, super light and takes up zero space.
This weekend was perfect and exactly what we needed. Besides going on a few hikes, taking walks to the beach, building bonfires, and completely relaxing we literally indulged in every cozy comfort of winter.. made cookies, sipped hot chocolate over a roaring bonfire, ate lots of yummy turkey chilli and cinnamon buns and fiiiiinally watched Stranger Things 2. Couldn’t have asked for a better couple of days away with my boys!
