DRESS THE PART

So much of success is showing up and dressing the part. Not to say that there isn’t a lot of heavy lifting done in and around these actions, but you’d be surprise what being diligent, showing up on-time and dressing well can do for your shot at success.

For some that might be nailing the interview to the job of your dreams, for others this might mean meeting a peer for mentorship for the first time – you only get one shot at a first impression, so why not blow them away with sophisticated, effortless style and a deep-rooted belief in proper business etiquette. Enter the new white dress shirt. Your tried-and-true staple button down just got a makeover and I’m loving all the variations that have been making their way down the runway this season.

This one I’m wearing I picked up a few weeks ago at Zara. Much of my days are spent packing all the meetings I can into one or two days per week, that way I only have to commute into downtown on those days and can keep on track with my other work from my home office. Much of the time I’m visiting different companies and brands for different reasons and figuring out the appropriate attire can be a bit of a pain. So to make things easy I regularly turn to the classic white dress shirt, except these days the basic white shirt is anything but! I love how easily it pairs with a great pair of dress slacks but can also be dressed down casually with denim and a blazer. I’ve sourced some other options I’ve come across so far and linked them in the ‘Shop The Post’ section below. If you visit my SHOP page (located in the navigation bar at the top of the page), I’ve added a section ‘FOR WORK’ with all my selects, perfect for work and priced at all points. But first, today’s #tipaday:

Always show up at least five minutes early – set the precedent early that you are serious and reliable. It’s all the little actions you demonstrate along the way that leave a lasting impression.
