HOW I ORGANIZE MY BEAUTY PRODUCTS

I’m not sure what’s gotten into me lately, but I’ve been reorganizing like mad! Since I’m working with limited space, every couple months I feel like things tend to get a little cluttered — and if things are starting to pile up, it’s time to go through everything and figure out what I want to keep and what I can gift to someone else.

I have ALWAYS been an organization nut. Something about it is just so damn therapeutic. Even as a young girl, I remember spending HOURS in my room, arranging and rearranging every last thing. I loved setting things up like a store, all the labels facing out, color coded. The whole drill.

Now that I’m older (and a full-time blogger) this is one quality trait I’m very appreciative to have, as I know it doesn’t come naturally to everyone. Nor does everyone match my enjoyment & satisfaction from cleaning/organizing.

A definite perk of my job are the beauty products I get to test out. I can’t say that I could afford to buy some of these products if this wasn’t the case. I take a lot of pride in that, and being able to truthfully give my opinions & recommendations to my readers. As a consumer, I’m well aware of how daunting and overwhelming it can be to want to try new things but not having a clue.

So, my mission here has been to be CEO of Testing —
I do the work, so you don’t have to waste your money on things that don’t!

Read on for tips on how to organize your beauty products [no matter what you’re working with]

STEP 1 PURGE: remove everything from your shelf/cupboard/drawer & divide your items into two piles. One to keep and one to gift/donate. As you can imagine I get sent quite a lot of product, more than any one person could use, so I love packing up bundles to gift to my most loyal readers who show me so much love. It’s a fun way for me to give back. Everything else gets donated to my local thrift shops as well as to my Union Gospel Mission family.

STEP 2 ORGANIZE: any time I stop in at Homesense, I pick up any pretty glass containers I find. Not to sound like a hoarder or anything, but they make organization SO easy and way nicer to look at. Options like this or this are so great for beauty products & supplies. I like to put all my favourite bottles / products on display, front and centre in these.

OTHER ORGANIZATION TIPS:
+ keep ‘like’ colors together for a more unified look
+ organize products by category: hair, lips, skin… so you’ve got a system
+ keep things you use frequently up front so it’s in close reach
+ use clear containers so you can easily see what’s in front of you
