HOW TO MANAGE YOUR HAIR WITH ZERO EFFORT

Truth be told, I haven’t had my hair coloured or done professionally (aside from one little trim) since October — GASP. Overall, this last year I’ve been extremely low maintenance about my hair, and not even intentionally. It started when I couldn’t make an apt. work before leaving for Hawaii during the winter break, then before I knew it months were rolling by and I figured my hair could probably use a break.

To be honest, I’m shocked at the number of compliments and questions I get about my hair every week, despite of this. Wanna know my secret? There are a couple key things that have made all the difference to my hair care.

This included lots of hair masks and oil treatments, switching to silk hair ties (no pulling) and a silk pillowcase (no breakage), a good hair brush and shampoo system (I like Briogeo & Bumble and Bumble). Another thing that also attributes to healthy hair IMO is a multi vitamin (I take Centrum Multigummies everyday). I’m a big believer that beauty starts on the inside and what we put into our bodies has a profound effect on how it blossoms on the outside.

In general, I’ve taken more of an active interest in products. I only wash my hair once or twice a week (even while working out) so I need products that can help me maintain and style through the week. If you haven’t noticed by now, I don’t like a lot of fuss. I need something that’s quick, easy and most importantly, works.

I recently started styling my hair with Ouai products and I have to say I really like them. I started first with their Dry Shampoo because using one for me is pretty crucial in between workouts and washes and loved how it smelled and felt in my hair (not gritty or sticky). Next, I tried the Wave spray and was SOLD. I love to use it when I don’t actually want to curl my hair, a few spritzes and I’m good to head out the door. Really great if you’re one to get your workout in during your lunch hour.

Breaking down the full list of products, what they do & how they work below:

I’m a love-at-first-sight kind of girl. I’m attracted first to the packaging — always. I am OBSESSED with branding and love a good, clean label so when I saw Ouai sitting on the shelves at Sephora I was instantly curious [but cautious]. I’ve been let down many times by pretty packaging so instead of buying on impulse I did my research and started looking at comments online about the products before going ahead and trying them all.

Coles notes version: THIS SHIT WORKS. My ideal hair is kind of messy, beachy, undone, effortless hair. To be honest I don’t even normally use a hairspray but after trying Ouai’s dry shampoo a couple months ago I knew I wanted to see more.

Here’s the full breakdown of what I’ve tried so far:

Wave Spray: a weightless texture mist for effortlessly chic, undone hair. Infused with rice protein to add hold and memory for that “just got out of the ocean and my hair dried perfectly” look.

Texturizing hair spray: like dry shampoo and hair spray had a baby—this ultra-lightweight hair spray builds incredible volume and texture. Packed with volcanic minerals to absorb oil and refresh hair.

Memory mist heat protectant: protect and perfect with Memory Mist Heat Protectant, the high octane heat protectant that primes hair and locks in any style, shape or texture you create until your next shampoo. Memory polymer technology means less retouching, less restyling and less damage. Simply spray in sections on damp or dry hair before styling to shield strands from heat up to 450 degrees and lock in your look until you wash it next. If that sounds like magic, that’s because it is.

Dry shampoo: a dry shampoo that neutralizes product build-up and oil, leaving hair instantly refreshed with a light, airy scent. No suspicious white spots.

Treatment masque: a restorative healing mask that’s formulated to repair damage in minutes, leaving strands incredibly soft and smooth after just one treatment. Made with Artichoke Leaf Extract to seal the cuticle and protect hair from future damage.

Hair oil: a multitasking oil that smoothes frizz and seals split ends for high-gloss, super-smooth finish. Packed with African Galanga, Ama and Asian Borage oils keep color from fading and protect hair from heat damage.

Rose hair & body oil: smoothing hair oil, hydrating moisturizer, and intoxicating fragrance, their resident multi-hyphenate gets you glossy from head-to-toe. A fusion of Absinthium, Shea and Rosehip Oils works to nourish and protect strands, lock in moisture and impart a radiant glow on your skin and hair.

Hair & body shine mist: a weightless finishing mist made with bling-worthy diamond powder, Hair & Body Shine Mist lights up your hair and skin with instant mirror-like shine. For use whenever you need a healthy glow, this silky, buildable formula also hydrates and tames frizz with nutrient-rich amaranth oil and squalane.

Air dry foam: air Dry Foam is here to revolutionize your air dry. Ouai’s innovative wash & wear formula enhances and encourages your natural wave patterns for more consistency, softens strands, fights frizz and adds definition. Oh and it’s infused with Kale Extract for touchable texture that lasts.

After sun body soother: SPF’d up and need to chill? This icy cool foam instantly calms and hydrates your skin. It has aloe-infused bubbles, cucumber extract, and rose hip oil. When you feel it poppin’, you know it’s working.
