#MYMOES MASTER BEDROOM UPDATES

Last weekend we finally updated our master bedroom. This has been a LONG time coming. I had never been a huge fan of the paint color in our bedroom but it’s wasn’t totally unfortunate, so we kinda just dealt with it.

Much of what you saw in our bedroom [including furniture] previously has been there since we moved in (5 years ago — yikes). I guess the reason we had put off making any updates earlier was because it felt like such a huge job / hassle and at the end of the day, I felt like I could live with what we had. Now five years in, I couldn’t get started fast enough.

I didn’t want to overthink our bedroom — I wanted it to be inviting, cozy, tranquil, relaxing and stylish. Kind of like a sanctuary in our own home, you know?. Somewhere where we could retreat to at the end of a long day. I also didn’t want to spend a fortune to furnish the place so I opted for quality where it matters and invested in pieces I know we will be able to continue using even as we move into our next home.

For example, I splurged on this gorgeous console table that I think could also work in an entryway, maybe in our next home? For now it serves as the main focal point of our room, but also to hide the ugly cords and cables from our TV + PVR. Nothing annoys my OCD more than the ungodly sight of cords. I also wanted side tables that fit the same vibe, modern design with rustic accents. Very into black, iron hardware so that was carried throughout the furniture as well as the table lamps. I kept the decor to a minimum to allow the focal points of the room be the bed and the console, but of course had to accessories with some plants, candles and artwork.

Our master bedroom is small so I wasn’t too concerned about filing the space up entirely. I wanted it to feel light and airy and not too crowded. My advice for furnishing a bedroom on a budget is to pick and choose the items that are worth spending more on. Choose a fabulous focal point and let everything else remain simple. Moe’s Home Collection has an insane selection of side & console tables, chairs, table lamps, bedding, pillows etc. Of course, if you aren’t on a budget then you are free to go nuts with all the fun artwork and accessories they have, too.

  1. Hi Sydney,

I’m down sizing from a house to a one bedroom apartment. What size is your bed and is it a storage bed? Where did you buy it from and do you have recommendation on mattresses?

    1. Hi Jodi!
We got our bed frame custom from Lofty Living & we love it bc the bottom lifts up for storage. Our mattress is the ‘Chanel’ model from Sleep Country and we have queen! I would definitely recommend that one.
