SPRING FORWARD W/ MINTED

Don’t forget to adjust your clocks one hour ahead this weekend, as this Sunday is daylight savings! I absolutely love this time of year, things are slowly in motion to bloom over the next few months as we begin to switch out stale winter blahs and prepare our homes for a fresh new season.

I thought this would be the perfect time to nail down the perfect piece of art to hang above our bed since we’d been long avoiding the task. Our bedroom is a palette of pale blues, greys and whites, with rustic ‘west coast’ details woven throughout. And with the help of some new cushion covers, fresh linens and our chosen piece from Minted, we are ready to hit ‘go’ on Spring.

I want to introduce you to Minted: a marketplace of independent artists like Matthew Sampson who captured our beautiful artwork . I love this particular piece because it reminds me of summers spent on the island at my husband’s family cabin– it’s frame is also constructed from reclaimed barn wood that gives it a very natural, ‘west coast’ feel. After searching Minted’s databased I felt very connected to this piece and decided to surprise my husband with it for Valentine’s day. Some of you may have caught his reaction on snapchat when he opened the box up for the first time.

Minted houses thousands of pieces of artwork … and not just photography prints, but drawings, paintings and mixed media, you’d be hard pressed not to find something to hang on your wall at home.

I have never shared photos of our bedroom, so here’s a little peek so you can see what the finished product looked like hung proudly on our wall.

IMG_1194 IMG_1229 “Love keeping things cozy with lots of layered textures and neutrals”.
IMG_1241 “I love my Lisi Lerch, turquoise tassel earrings and keep them nearby (on my nightstand & an extra in my purse) in case of emergency”.
IMG_1198 “I always keep a notepad or notebook on my nightstand. Without fail just as I am winding down, I get some of my best ideas — gotta jot them down so I don’t forget!”.
IMG_1220 “Welcome spring into your home by filling rooms with fresh flowers. Flowers make our home feel alive — if you are on a budget, you can always split up an arrangement into smaller vases and spread them throughout your home”.
IMG_1165 “Swapped our heavy bedding for lighter, airy linens. I love the different patterns on the pillows, like the scallop and pompom detailing. Found all these pillows at Homessense!”.
IMG_1207 IMG_1219 “We live in a small condo, so every bit of extra space counts! I use these wicker laundry baskets for extra storage and blankets. The end of our bed also lifts up for additional storage for things like suit cases and winter clothes”.
