Over the past week I’ve been to Bellevue for a quick shopping trip with the girls, then left for Vancouver’s Gulf Islands the next day for the long weekend. Being the last long weekend of the summer (gasp) we wanted to take full advantage of BC’s unmistakable beauty and head to our family cabin on Mayne (about a 90 minute ferry away from Vancouver). With temperatures over 24 degrees we couldn’t have asked for a better weekend; we went hiking to the highest peak (complete with helicopter pad at the top), swimming & cliff jumping (you may have seen on snapchat) explored the island on our bikes, relaxed at the beach and enjoyed a seafood cookout of fresh crab and mussels we collected from Saturday’s trip to Oyster Bay. We even lucked out with a visit to the local farmers market, a real treat compared to the ones we have in the city. Each time we visit this magical place I leave recharged and more grounded than when I arrived.
Today was my first day back in the office and it felt so good to start to get things prepped and organized for this fall. We are leaving for a trip to Europe in three short weeks (for a one-month stay) and so I’m feeling the pressure to get everything secured and ready for when we get back home later in September. This weekend getaway was just what I needed!
