LET’S TALK ENERGY

Ever notice how some people seem to radiate positive energy?
While some others seem to have the life sucked out of them?

Energy has always been a topic that has intrigued me and peaked my curiosity, but something I started looking more into when I started noticing my own energy shifting [after going through a series of traumatic experiences]. It’s why I read so many books on mindset and philosophy and now after learning and seeing so much, I’ve become absolutely obsessed with how to keep it up. Here’s the short end of a long story…

Over the years I’ve learned what in my life depletes my energy and what replenishes my energy. It’s taken a while to become aware of the patterns, but once I did I started making better decisions about how to use my time.

WHAT DEPLETES MY ENERGY:

— toxic people
— negative mindframes
— being around negative ppl
— ppl who don’t do what they say
— being stagnant
— not being stimulated
— feeling stifled
— arguing (even when it doesn’t involve me)

WHAT REPLENISHES MY ENERGY:

— positive people
— movement & light
— my friends & family
— reading books
— being outdoors
— expressing creativity

I hit a point a few years ago where I realized that every so often (weeks/months) I’d get into a rut. Nothing super serious, I’d just sort of fall off my workouts or healthy eating or work commitments. But after so much hard work and consistency I was getting SUPER frustrated with why this was even the case???

So, I did what I always do when I’m feeling weird or uneasy or out of sorts. I read. And then I started to really look at my life and sort of dissect. I took a deeper look at my own thoughts and thinking, my habits and how I use my time. I started to see patterns in my behaviour and noted when I started to feel a [negative] shift.

Little by little I cleaned up my daily routines and started implementing systems that help me stay on track. I wrote about my 5 Non-Negotiables in a blog post (here) which basically sums up the 5 things I make myself do daily to ensure that I keep on course. Doing these things set in motion the domino effect to other great things that will happen in my day because i’ve committed to these actions. Of course, they will be different for everyone but I encourage you to figure out what yours are and make them a priority in your life.

Especially during these challenging and uncertain times, you might find that this helps you create balance at home to continue to slowly work towards your goals. Whatever they may be.

It’s still a practice to this day, but I’ve become such a better person for it.
