SKINCARE RESET: 3 SERUMS I’M LOVING

When it comes to skincare I feel like great products and a good routine are key. That being said, it doesn’t hurt every once in a while to hit reset and introduce new products into the mix. Just like when you work out at the gym — you’d never repeat the exact same exercises over and over. After a while your body gets used to those moves and you need to switch things up to keep getting good results. Same goes for your skin and hair.

Skincare is rarely a one-size fits all sort of situation. Every person’s needs/preferences/sensitivities/issues are different and require different approaches to resolve. Over the past two years I’ve really been interested in working on my skin health, taking preventative measures when and where I can as I learn new things — because I believe if I can, why wouldn’t I?

I recently starting using three new serums (Booster Drops) from Rodial. After testing each one individually, I started learning each of their functions and how they could apply to what I’m looking for. What I love about these booster drops is that you can customize your blend and routine to target specific concerns. Here are mine:

  • I want visibly healthy, glowing skin that looks smooth, hydrated and fresh.
  • I have a few new scars on my cheek and chin that I would like to minimize.
  • I’ve been getting some slight discolouration/redness on both my cheeks, would like to reduce appearance.

I have to admit, I get a bit nervous about introducing new products into my routine because my skin has been doing so well with what I’ve been using. I get scared that switching products might cause me to break out or just flat out won’t work. I first started with the only one I knew anything about — collagen. Full breakdown below:

Collagen: a strong, active protein that prevents and improves multiple signs of visible aging.

  • supports skin renewal
  • re-densifies the complexion
  • visibile hydration
  • supports skin restoration

Glycolic: a resurfacing concentrate designed to refine the appearance of skin for a smoother more even complex.

  • blurs appearance of wrinkles
  • resurfaces the complexion
  • boosts radiance
  • smooths & evens the skin

Next, I tried the Glycolic drops. I moved to this one next because for whatever reason the word ‘Retinol’ freaked me out. I had no idea what it was or did and so without taking the initiative to learn more I wrote it off before I tried it. I instantly fell in-love with the Glycolic drops. One day I tried using it before applying my makeup and it left me with this amazing, fresh, dewy look that I swear helped keep my makeup in place all day. I love to work in my serums with my Clairsonic (firming massage head) for a deep clean and to help out with absorption.

Once I did a bit of research I quickly learned that Retinol is nothing to be afraid of, but rather a potent, skin rejuvenating active that delivers proven anti-aging results.

Retinol: skin revitalising active increases the rate of cell turnover, diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles for a more youthful looking complexion.

  • reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles & age spots
  • evens skin tone
  • minimizes the look of pores

I really wish I had learned about Retinol earlier because since this summer I have a few new dark spots on my chest as well as a scar (hair wand mishap) on the left side of my face that I would really like to calm down. I’ve been using all three booster drops for a few weeks now and pleased to report that my skin has never felt or looked more healthy. It’s actually kind of crazy how I’ve only heard of these now because they’ve really made a difference in the feel and appearance of my skin.

Here’s my morning routine winning combo:
X3 drops collagen: to hydrate
X3 drops glycolic: to even skin and boost radiance with a healthy glow
X2 drops retinol (only once per week): to help reduce the appearance of scars and sun spots
