Last Friday I spent the morning getting a little monthly maintenance at The Ten Spot, Vancouver’s newest beauty bar. Located in the heart of Yaletown, The Ten Spot is your one-stop-shop for nail, skin & waxing needs; perfect for busy women who are always on-the-go.
A huge plus for me personally, is their attention to detail – specifically when it comes to their cleaning methods. The Ten Spot adheres to only the most stringent hygiene and sensitization and practices, going well above and beyond government regulations. I had NO idea about the risks I had been putting myself through each time I’d go for my regular mani/pedi elsewhere – have you ever had someone use a nail file or buffer block on you that has been reused, but they say it’s been sterilized… well apparently that’s not possible (nothing with a gritty surface can be safely cleaned). The Ten Spot is extremely strict about spraying down hard surfaces with a product designed to eliminate fungal, bacteria and viral infections, anything that provides risk for cross contamination (includes door handles, light switches, beds & counters). Bed paper, manicure linens, nail files, buffers, paper flip flops, mascara wands (for brow services) all get tossed after each use and of course, all towels are laundered, every time. You’d think that would be a no-brainer however unfortunately, it happens more so than we all think. So the next time you pop in to your regular salon, take a look around and see what health and safety practices they are putting in place (if any at all). Knowing what I know now, it would be hard for me to go back to where I was going before!
Last week I spent the morning getting the works and enjoyed a Manicure, Pedicure and the Quickie Facial. I felt like I’d had the same pampered experience, but without the guilt of spending the entire day at the spa or salon (was in and out in aprox. 2.5 hours), which is perfect for women who lead busy lifestyles.
