Whether I’m juggling business meetings in the city during the day or brand previews and media events in the evening, there are key staples I turn to when I need to look pulled together and professional but keep it relatively casual (& comfortable!). Over the years I’ve narrowed down my list to three key pieces every girl should own:

BLACK MOTTO JACKET: motto jackets are simple, sharp and chic and never go out of style. Not to mention, can be worn with everything from skirts to trousers to jeans etc. This one is from Aritzia from about 4 years ago when I was still working in Advertising (similar here). I invested in a bit better quality and it’s lasted me and still has great shape. Similar versions at slightly lower price points like this are great too, but definitely won’t last as long.

GO-TO DENIM: when you find a good pair of jeans, buy two! I’m a huge lover of boyfriend and distressed denim but you should always have at least one go-to pair of dark wash denim for a more polished look. These typically look great year round and can be dressed up or down.

BLACK BOOTIES: worn with skinny jeans or paired with a shift dress (like this) black booties are a necessity. I picked these up for $50 at Zara, made sure to use the protective spray and haven’t looked back.

  1. What denim brands do you love most? I’ve recently given a new brand a go (NYDJ Not your daughters jeans) and although they’re a tad pricey ($110 and up), the quality is BEAUTIFUL and the denim is buttery soft and comfy. I’m not sure if I may be in a hurry to go back to my usual Levi’s http://customessaytw.com/
