Since I was a little girl I always thought I wanted to be a designer — at the time that extended into clothing, art and even mini room makeovers in my then childhood bedroom. It’s built into my blood just like my passion for consumer behaviour, marketing and fashion – something I’ve always gravitated towards naturally.
Last summer I got the opportunity to team up with local textiles company Joue Design to create a small capsule collection of decorative throw pillows. We co-designed two, tone-on-tone prints using Joue’s signature watercolour paintings to create the Lola linen/cotton pillow, featuring a rose print and ecru pom pom trim, and the Palmera linen/cotton pillow with a subtle palm print and palm green tassel embellishments. It was such a fun experience to design the pillows from start to finish, normally I would only get the opportunity to help market a product so to have a helping hand in designing it was exciting to say the least.
Over this past weekend I woke up to the incredible news that both designs are now available on Wayfair Canada’s website!! I can’t explain how thrilling it feels to have your ideas/ designs/ vision be shared (& accepted) by so many through such a great retailer like Wayfair … let’s me know I should continue creating (wink wink).
But really though, while we’re here I need to thank my readers who have been cheering me on throughout the initial launch of my capsule last fall, to my friends and family who have been so amazing in supporting my (sometimes crazy) ideas and to my incredible partners at Joue Design who were the ones who had approached me to set this whole project in motion. These opportunities are the reasons I pushed so hard to transition myself away from my corporate career to one based on creative intuition. One more check off my bucket list!
