It’s hard to believe just last week I was laying out on the beach with nothing to do except for listen to podcasts, read and recharge. A week later and it’s right back to it for me, and I would’t want it any other way. Going on vacation is always fun and not to mention a very much needed break (from life in general) but I always get excited to get back home with fresh eyes and more energy than when I left.
This time was no exception. For some reason this time when I came home everything looks kinda, well, boring and stale. So I’m on a mission to clean things up and get our home on the same wave length as I’m feeling. More on that later, but in the meantime I thought I’d update you on some of FAQ’s you guys had sent through while we were there.
This trip is the only trip where we really try to do nothing. No activities, no touristy things, just soak up the sun, sit on the beach, sip frozen cocktails and enjoy yummy dinners. Find below a list of recommendations in case you are planning a trip of your own.

WHAT TO DO:
Obviously, I was parked on the beach the entire time but if you are looking for a little day excursion, friends of mine also visit around the same time so we often rent mopeds for the day and ride around the island to other remote, gorgeous beaches (like Sandy Beach, Lanikai & Waimea Beach Park). Last year we rented mopeds from Cruzin Hawaii Moped Rental (full disclaimer: this place looks sketchy but the staff were super friendly and the moped are cheaper than anywhere else we found).
In years past we will sometimes rent a car and drive to the North Shore of the island to go explore and stop at the food trucks, which are some of the best! It’s worth a half day or so if you’re feeling bored with the beach and need something a little different. Super touristy things to do also include a visit to the Dole Plantation (pineapple ice cream is my WEAK point), Pearl Harbor and Diamond Head (super easy hike, there’s also lots of harder ones that are more remote as well). If you do visit Diamond Head, they have an amazing farmer’s market on Saturdays that’s worth checking out.
We normally stay in Waikiki at the Outrigger resorts. We usually stay at Outrigger Reef but this time we stayed on the main strip at Outrigger Waikiki, steps from the Moana Surfrider Hotel (where we go for coffee each morning). Modern Honolulu also has great pools with a very resorty vibe if you’re looking for a chill spot.
