2020 GIFT GUIDE: SMALL BIZ

I thought it was especially important to highlight some of the “little guy’s” in this year’s gift guides. I feel like more and more people are striving to find fewer, more intentional gifts from sources close to home. If there’s any ‘gift’ you could give this year, it would be to support small business. These people grind like their lives depend on it – because it most certainly does. Many of those on this list are also running self-funded companies and don’t have the luxury of corporate backing to ride on throughout this mess of a year.

I also realize that a lot of people want to support, but oftentimes don’t know where to look. HERE WE GO AGAIN – Christmas concierge pt.2! I’m going to make your life super easy and provide a list of businesses to watch, all of which I’ve become mildly obsessed with.

If you are searching for the perfect gift for ANYONE on your list, I encourage you to grab a coffee and spend some time visiting my list below – you are SURE to find something good, and in-turn you can feel good knowing you are helping keep someone’s dream afloat.

Let’s go shopping!

Nu Moon: Nu Moon was founded by a TWG reader who reached out to me last year about starting her own business. I’m so proud to see her let go of any hesitation and go for what she has envisioned for herself. She’s been slowly building her IG and is getting ready to launch a new website – I had to highlight her, for her eye for beauty and guts to go for it. If you’re ever in need of vintage Boheme, dried botanicals, she’s your girl.

Mumgry: think your fave Nutella spread, but nutritious and plant-based! This mama-owned business is one to watch and so-far, has developed 3 flavour profiles that you might wanna jump on sooner than later: Pistachio chocolate almond butter, smooth peanut butter and chocolate peanut butter. Learn more about Mumgry here.

+Lux Unfiltered: you are drops away from your best selfie, and you didn’t even know it! Introducing, your new best-friends; No.32 hydrating gradual self-tanning cream and No.12 bronzing face drops. Clean, buildable formulas, that are never streaky but always give a glowing, subtle tan. Learn more about +Lux Unfiltered here.

Everlasting Candle: the only unscented candle I will allow in our home! It’s like a beautiful piece of decor we love to display, that ALSO creates a cozy ambience when lit. We love our black one, but they have 3 other metallics to choose from that are beautiful + very budget-friendly. You can learn more about Everlasting Candle here.

Naked Clay Ceramics: this brand was inspired by all the natural colours and textures of the earth. Their focus being on quiet, minimal style tableware and homeware in black stoneware and white porcelain. I love how unique and special each piece feels. Learn more about Naked Clay Ceramics here.

Leah Alexandra Jewelry: I’ve known Leah for years. One thing I’ve noticed + admire about her is her dedication to her craft, and her integrity to stay in her own lane and do things her own way. I think of her jewelry pieces like precious heirlooms, that I will cherish always and likely pass down to family. She thinks big and out of the box and I love that about her. Know that when you order her jewelry that you are getting high quality, handmade pieces that you will have for a lifetime. Learn more about Leah and her company here.

Gilded Body: love this body skincare brand! I just ordered a beautiful candle and a white marble dry brush the other day – wait until you see them. Gilded believes in skincare for your body [not just the face] and share a lot of helpful tips + resources about how to take care of 100% you. You can learn more about Gilded Body here.

Squish Juicery: love these guys and I know you’ve heard a lot about them from me over the past few months, since we were introduced. A gift card for a fresh cold pressed juice cleanse would be a great gift for the mom’s and M-I-L’s in the family. A nice way to reset for the (what we hope to be a fresh!!!) new year ahead. Learn more about Squish here.

Bohème: I love seeing what dreamy things Bohème is coming up with on both their Insta and website. The whole brand has a vibe of its own; a small curation of vintage and pre-loved objects focused around small-batch, slow fashion. Super refreshing + different! Learn more about Bohème here.

Hound Collection: I was introduced to Hound a few years ago + it’s been the only leashes my dog has used. We love them! Based in Ontario and their goods are handmade with real leather. I find it difficult to find dog items that aren’t cheaply made and I love that we will have our Hound leashes and collars forever. You can learn more about Hound here.

Good Boy Collective: I only recently found this Vancouver-based brand when I was looking for xmas gifts for Xavi. Everything they have is so dang cute, I dare you to look and not wanna buy the whole shop! Best of luck to you. You can learn more about Good Boy Collective here.

Beneath Your Mask: I was initially hooked in by the beautiful branding + packaging but once I learned more about their skincare products [pure, potent, luxurious, non-toxic], I was sold. Learn more about BYM here.

White Terry Home: we switched our bedding this year and are NEVER looking back. Don’t need to. I’ve always been obsessed with the plush, lux feel of those fluffy, amazing, hotel beds, and ever since we got the bedding and duvet cover from White Terry Home – it’s been heaven. What makes them unique is that all their bedding is made with organic cotton which means that it is non-toxic. I never realized our old sheets were actually harming our health. P.S. I have an active code with them that you are free to use anytime: TWG15 You can learn more about White Terry Home here.

Woodlot: you may have heard me talking about Woodlot because that’s where I order all my palo Santo from. They’ve got a great collection of natural essential oils, candles, soaps and lotions etc. and I’ve been obsessed with their branding for years! You can learn more about Woodlot here.

June & Rose Candles: another TWG reader who I’ve been following this year. Their 100% natural soy wax candles are so yummy and cute. You can learn more about June & Rose Candles here.

Elan Byrd: in case you are looking for something super unique this year! This collection was what originally got me hooked on her artwork, but she releases new collections using woven textiles and organic materials every so often. You can learn more here.

If you have any small businesses you think I would enjoy, please leave them and their handles/websites below!
