INSIDE MY FACIAL TREATMENT

Yesterday I headed back into Project Skin for a much-needed facial treatment. If you are familiar with my skin journey, you know that having clear skin was not something that has come easy to me – and to be honest, it’s why I got into skincare in the first place.

Let’s rewind, in case you’re new here. Years ago, when I started my blog was when I got diagnosed with Melasma. At that time I guess my body was going through hormonal changes and I was also experiencing bad cystic acne that would pop up monthly, around my chin area. If you are someone who struggles with your skin, there’s good news! There are things that you can do to help. Obviously, there’s no overnight, quick fix but with consistency and care it can happen over time – I’m living proof.

Here’s a breakdown of the steps I took to get things under control:

+ I visited a dermotologist at Project Skin MD. They offer free consultations, where the doctor can assess your skin and talk to you about your struggles and goals moving forward.

+ I invested in excellent skincare products. Project Skin was the first to introduce me to Skinceuticals. I couldn’t get past the price point at first, but after consistently using their products over the last 7 years I understand why. Sometimes, you get what you pay for. And personally, I’m happy to invest money into doing things that will help me be as healthy + preventative as possible.

+ I adjusted my diet + maintained an active lifestyle. This might seems obvious, but usually the simplest things make the biggest difference. Ditching junk + processed foods while adding more leafy greens, juices, smoothies, making sure I’m getting lots of water and sleep have also made a noticeable difference.

That was then. Now, I’d say my skin has done a complete 180. I RARELY get pimples anymore and my maslama has completely cleared. I can switch my products every now & again with no irritation (unlike before) and my complexion has cleared up a ton. But today I wanted to touch on the treatment I got yesterday, since I’m already getting questions – my response can now live here!

THE TREATMENT: I got the Bela MD, which is a brand new facial treatment offered at both Project Skin locations.

THE PROCESS + BENEFITS: the Bela MD is more than just your everyday facial. It combines the treatment essentials, like medical-grade dermabrasion, infusion & extraction, with the latest skin health technology, elevating your treatment (and your skin) to a whole new level. Here’s what that looks like..

Medical-grade dermabrasion: diamond-tip microdermabrasion is carried out on dry skin, to exfoliate the skin and remove debris.

Advanced serum infusion: temporary micro-pores are created in the skin to infuse hydration with customized serums that target fine lines and wrinkles, acne and congestion, pigmentation or skin radiance.

Micro-current Electrical Neuromuscular Stimulation (MENS): micro-current and muscle massage provide muscle stimulation and toning while boosting circulation and improving lymphatic drainage.

Hydrogen water infusion: hydrogen water has many benefits for the skin, including neutralizing free radicals, reducing inflammation, boosting brightness and delivering hydration.

Step 1: Deep Cleanse + Serum Infusion
+ cleanse & exfoliate
+ removes waste & debris with vacuum suction
+ serum infusion
+ customized exfoliation with diamond tip option

Step 2: Muscle Toning + Circulation boost
+ muscle massage
+ promotes lymphatic circulation
+ enhance skin elasticity
+ boosts healthy blood flow to skin tissue

Step 3: Antioxidant Hydrogen Water
+ antioxidant action beneath the surface
+ skin revitalization
+ anti-inflammatory
+ hydration

Step 4: Enhanced Serum Delivery
+ creates temporary micro-pores to enhance serum penetration
+ improves moisture in the skin

The Bela MD treatment can be tailored to your unique skin needs with one of four potent serum infusion options. Here’s a breakdown of what each do:

  • bBRIGHT: provides antioxidant action to soothe, brighten and improve skin texture.
  • bCALM: boosts hydration, replenishes the skin barrier and increases the skin’s firmness and elasticity.
  • bCLEAR: reduces excess oil production, clears congestion, calms and soothes inflamed skin.
  • bEVEN: brightens complexion, evens skin tone and helps reduce the appearance of sun damage, age spots and hyperpigmentation.

Total transparency – always! I was a little nervous before heading in because I have never done microdermabrasion before and I wasn’t sure if it would hurt. I couldn’t have been more wrong, the whole treatment was super relaxing and wasn’t uncomfortable AT ALL. I loved that the whole thing was tailored to my specific needs (dry skin, pigmentation, texture, brightening) and I felt extremely informed at every step.

I would highly recommend this treatment to anyone looking to reset + refresh their skin. It’s been my experience that when I’m helping to maintain the health of my skin that I also in turn am getting the best quality from my homecare products.

As always, I’m here to help so if you have questions feel free to drop them below or msg me on IG!

  1. This sounds AMAZING! I love trying any popular or fancy facials. Have you ever tried the hydra facial? One of my top fave experiences at the spa!
