Last week I read Ashley‘s blog post (Blonde Collective) on shopping small in light of what’s going on in the world rn and felt inspired to follow-suit. I have to say, in this type of situation I do feel a level of responsibility to use my channels to help in whatever way I can.

Here’s where I can start.

Over the years, I’ve gotten to know loads of local businesses, many Canadian-owned & operated. You’ve likely seen me post/talk about most of them pretty regularly on my Stories. I hope I’m not forgetting anyone!! But I’ve put together a list, organized by category of mostly small / local businesses I ADORE and support.

Kokomo: a plant-focused cafe serving up yummy, nourishing bowls.
Hugo’s Mexican Kitchen: you know I die for Mexican. Love their Tortilla Soup & churros. SO much, we even had their Churro cart at our wedding for our midnight snack!
El Guapo: another Mexican option in the heart of Yaletown.
Tacofino: go for the nachos! You will not regret.
Sorella: I would argue the best Italian in Vancouver.
To Die For Fine Foods: constantly grabbing for Erin Ireland‘s PB Coconut Energy Balls but life-long fan of her infamous BB Bread.

Give Landeau: luxurious florist, you know those gorgeous roses that come delivered inside a classic, simple box? Beautiful gift for a special occasion.
30 Minute Hit: where I’ve been boxing / kickboxing since 2013. It’s a 30 minute boxing circuit where you can drop in when it’s convenient.
Celsia Floral: love this cute flower shop on 4th Avenue in Kits. Her floral designs are amazing.

Hound Collection: where Xavi’s handmade leather leashes are from. Love this Canadian brand!

Even though most everything is closed (physically), I would encourage you to shop online if you can. Maybe purchase gifts now that can be gifted later for Christmas or birthdays etc. Grab a gift card from your favourite restaurants, to be used once they can re-open their doors. This will help them keep afloat until business can resume as usual.

If you are not in a position to purchase anything right now then send some love another way. Use your own channels to share your favourite brands and small shops so we can all pitch in and support!
