Yesterday, in Stories I broke down the brands + products I trust to deliver a clean, non-toxic, sunless tan, year-round. I would say I’m a bit of an expert on the subject, after testing and trying out different products and brands for years.
Usually after Christmas we head to Hawaii for some real sun, but obviously this year we weren’t comfortable going anywhere – so self-tanning systems it is! Here is a complete breakdown of my favourite self-tanning products I trust to deliver an even, natural looking tan (minus the sun):

+ Eclipse Tanning Mousse + application mitt: I use this for an instant, deep sunless tan that illuminates over 6-8 hours. This is my go-to formula for if I’m shooting something and need a really rich looking tan that will last me about a good week-ish. It doesn’t go on streaky (nor do any of the formulas below) or smell funky – the scent is mandarin, orange blossom.
+ Goodnight Face Bronzing Serum: is packed with Vitamin C & antioxidants to hydrate, brighten and nourish skin while delivering a natural looking tan overnight. I like to use this after cleansing at night and it works while I get my beauty sleep, so I can wake up with a subtle, natural glow.
+ Illume Face Tanning Mist: is designed for everyday use on the face/neck to provide a subtle, bronzed effect that builds over time. I’m obsessed with this stuff and normally when I place an order, I buy them in two’s. That should tell you everything you need to know – but if you need more convincing, this facial mist is great to use throughout the day, on a bare face or over makeup. I even use it mid-day if my skin needs an instant refresh of hydration and makes makeup look dewy and fresh.
+ N0.12 Bronzing Face Drops: for a customizable, buildable tan that I work into my daily skincare routine by mixing 3-4 drops into my face moisturizer. These can also be applied to bare, clean skin alone for makeup days off. Another cult-favourite. If I’m not using Luna Bronze’s facial mist, I’m definitely using the bronzing face drops. The formula is super clean, unscented and buildable – which I love.
+ N0.32 Gradual Self-tanning Cream: for a natural looking, buildable glow. Infused with shea butter, cocoa butter + passion fruit oil that leaves my skin dewy and bronzy. I like to use this as my daily body moisturizer after the shower. It’s super hydrating and nourishing for the skin and delivers a very pretty, subtle looking tan with every application.
After reading my reviews, you might notice a common theme: my main objective is always to find products that deliver a natural, subtle looking glow but that also nourish my skin. If I’m already going through the trouble to keep my skin hydrated with a moisturizer, than I figure why not use something that’s going to give me that healthy vacation glow – without ever looking orange or fake. I know finding the perfect products can be like finding a needle in a haystack, so I’m hoping this list will help you find something you like!
