WHAT I’M THANKFUL FOR

Where to begin with 2020….
It’s definitely been the most trying year, in so many ways, for so many people.

Having simple luxuries restricted, like socializing, attending work events or being able to travel has been nothing short of shitty — and I’m a complete HOMEBODY! Not being able to see the people we love for many months, was a lot worse and has made me look at a lot of things differently.

The world has had to change the way we do everything from work, live, shop and interact — but if anything, I think it’s also made people more aware of what is truly important in life. We certainly have been very privileged throughout this entire thing, we’ve both been able to work and earn and luckily aren’t required to go far from home. We’ve had it good.

Despite 2020’s curveballs, I would have to say that this has been one of the most transformative years for me both personally and professionally.

From working on my long-term business goals [we are currently developing a new brand identity, new website + weekly newsletter], to completely switching things up on the home front. I haven’t mentioned anything just yet, but since you’re here — we’re moving! We bought a new (to us) house and are currently undergoing renovations. We still have a ways to go before we can physically move, but I’m so excited to fill you in on our plans + all things interior along the way.

More than anything, we are so excited to create our family home and have a little more fun with design elements that our current apartment couldn’t allow for.

While there are so many positive things going on for us right now, it’s near impossible to ignore how difficult this period has been for many. I’ve been paying close attention to all the things I’m so grateful for and leaning into those feelings as much as possible.

As we close out the last few months of the year, I want to take a moment to write out exactly what I feel most thankful for, today and always below:

My Health – After this year, there’s nothing I value more than my health. Knowing that I am healthy, strong and safe means everything. That goes for the health of my family + friends, too.

My Husband – I don’t need to convince anyone how incredible of a husband Roberto is. Funny, intelligent, loyal, charismatic, hard working… the list goes on. He’s never doubted my vision or capabilities and has always stood by me, even when years went by before earning a cent. I’m able to fully dive into my career head first, because I know i’m fully supported at home. It’s an incredibly liberating feeling and one that I don’t take for granted.

The last 4 years have been particularly challenging for me personally and going through all of it really showed me that I have a partner in life. I will be forever grateful for that.

My Career – I’ve always wanted a big career for myself and one that made me excited to get up in the morning (not a morning person, but slowly getting better). Blogging allows me to play in all my life’s passions: style, home design, social media, editorial. I knew I wanted to pursue Business and I was good at Marketing, so once I figured out that blogging was a thing, I was all-in. Even if that meant starting looked like 2am after a full day of work then night classes. Slowly but surely, building the foundation. Brick by brick.

Back then I didn’t realize that 7 years later I’d still very much be in building-mode. And TBH, that’s perfectly okay with me. I truly believe that everything happens for a reason and everyone shines in their own time. There were so many lessons I had to learn before I was ever ready for this point. And truthfully, I know too many people who’ve had “overnight” success only to quickly fizzle out of relevance.

Today, I’m incredibly proud of how far my blog has come. I feel so much more certain about the direction I want to take things and the brand I want to build moving forward.

My Family – My family has been through a lot these past couple years. A lot of change. A lot of pain. Not going to lie, it’s been tough. It’s been ugly. It’s been, quite frankly depressing at times. BUT, there is always a silver lining and I’m choosing to keep focused on the positives. Even though we may not always see eye to eye on everything, I love my family and am thankful for the ones who make an effort to keep us a priority in their lives.

My Readers – I fully realize that if it weren’t for your ongoing support, that I wouldn’t have a leg to stand on. You guys are incredible. Your loyalty and support is something I very much value and appreciate.

Of course there are about a zillion other things I’m thankful for — my dog, my home, my plant-based sour candies etc.. but I just wanted to highlight a few very important things I am thankful for this year. I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!
