LET’S TALK HAIRCARE

A few weeks ago I did a Q+A specifically talking haircare; what I get done, my hair washing schedule and what products + hot tools I like to use.. to name a few. It’s saved to my ‘Haircare’ highlight in case you missed it!

Today, I thought I’d write out the most FAQ’s so they can live here on the blog for easy reference.

MY HAIR WASHING SCHEDULE:

I only wash my hair once per week. Lucky for me, my hair doesn’t get greasy so I can get away with only one wash. On the days I do wash my hair, I use a non-toxic shampoo & conditioner, followed by a hair mask for extra hydration. I am currently using Dae Shampoo & Condition and have been loving Shu uemura’s Urban Moisture Hydro-Nourishing Treatment Mask (came recommended from my stylish, Kayla).

My hair used to have a lot of breakage and I assumed it was due to pulling it back or using hair ties but Kayla explained to me that my hair likely was just needed more hydration. Once I started implementing this hair mask, it was a game-changer and my hair has grown so much and gotten way stronger (despite continuing to use hair ties).

If at any time I do need a refresh or am working out more that week, I use Ouai’s dry shampoo for a quick fix.

PRODUCT BREAKDOWN:

Shampoo system: Dae shampoo + Conditioner
Hair Mask: Shu uemura moisture hydro-nourishing treatment
Dry Shampoo: Ouai Dry Shampoo
Hair Oil: Dae Prickly Pear Hair Oil
Hair Texture Spray: Ouai Texturizing Hair Spray
Wave Spray: Ouai Wave Spray
Heat Protectant: Bumble and Bumble Invisible Oil

HOT TOOLS:

Blow dryer: Dyson
Curling Wand: I got mine yearrrrrs ago from Sephora. It’s nothing fancy but gets the job done.

TIPS:

+ only wash hair once or twice per week so that your natural hair oils aren’t dried out too much
+ do a quick dry with your hair dryer (just so it’s not soaking) then let air dry
+ use a nourishing hair mask treatment that works for you
+ use a heat protectant before using any hot tools
+ keep hot tools to a minimum & don’t hold on your hair for too long
+ get regular trims to keep ends healthy
+ use silk scrunchies or hair ties to avoid additional breakage

I think I overdry my hair. I don’t like having it air dry. I should try using the hair mask too.
