POWDER ROOM: BEFORE + AFTER

In total, we have 4 bathrooms in our house. 3 are upstairs (ours, Ryders & the spare bathroom), and one powder room downstairs. Powder rooms typically are very small, but this one felt TINY when we began. So small, we ended up taking a bit of square footage from the mudroom just to be able to put in a decent vanity. I felt that it also needed some ‘wow’ factor, since it would serve as our only bathroom downstairs and a powder room for guests.

The bathrooms in our apartment were bland, boring & honestly there was just nothing to them so this time, I wanted to do something fun and go a little outside my comfort zone. The square footage actually helped keep the cost down, so we decided to go with a gorgeous vertical wall tile (on just the one wall you see as you enter) keeping the other walls painted an olive green tone, similar to the mud/laundry room. We went with a moody vanity in black (that actually matches our island in the kitchen) and bold gold hardware. For lighting, I wanted to do hanging pendants and thought these were incredible and so different from anything I’ve seen. For flooring, we chose a white penny tile – another cost saver, plus it looks super cute.

I’ve mentioned before that for our home remodel we have been working with NuHaus on construction, as well as Amanda Evans Interiors on design. We sourced everything through Amanda’s team – a job I could not have imagined taking on, on my own. While I have good taste + a clear vision of what we wanted, I had ZERO clue who or where to get anything from. Throughout this process, we have found it incredibly helpful to have people to lean on who are experts where we lack experience, it’s made everything so much smoother. Highly recommend!
